Overhead

I enjoyed painting the sky sagging with the weight of the storm above. I thought the earth was too bright, but that's Spring in the Valley. Almost unreal.

Barn Shadows

Funny how big a 12 x 12" piece can seem when you're used to teeny tiny canvases! I am happy with the shadows on the the barn and the loose sky.

A big thanks to Nina for hosting Davis' only indie artisan show yesterday. It was a lot of fun--and the rain didn't show up until it was over! Gotta love that.

Project Unlaced No.1

No. 1 for Paige in Sacramento

I completed my first unlaced postcard today! I thought it would be fitting to start this new endeavor with an untied (not quite unlaced) shoe.

Thank you to those of you who signed up to receive a postcard. I still have 2 spots open, if you're interested in getting a painting (or know someone who might), please e-mail me your address. I'm shooting for 15 postcards each round!

Postcards finished this week will mail out next week, in order for them to have time to dry. Same with next weeks and so on. Hope you're having a good Monday!

Rice Sprouts

Rice production here in the Central Valley is huge. It's frequently grown in non-linear, wavy rows that curve and hug their way down the Delta. Perfect for painting!

Post Show

I had a wonderful time on Saturday in front of nina and tom here in Davis. The new display boards looked great and I loved the neat, clean look of my paintings against them. The weather was toastier than expected but it was fun to chat with my neighbor and friend Melissa and meet some new creative souls. I even sold a few things! Woo-hoo!

The nice feedback was so rewarding (and needed). Nina has been kind enough to invite me to hang some work in her shop, too. So I'm going to sort through my etsy listings to make sure I've removed the ones she would like to hang. Most importantly it means I need to get painting to fill up the inventory again!

Five Sisters

I struggled early this morning on a teensy tiny board. It didn't go so well. I got more satisfaction from tossing it (emphatically) in the trash than at any moment while I was actually painting it. I gave myself a second chance on an 8 x 10 canvas. I didn't have much time so I worked quickly.

Success! Keeping the brushwork loose on the trees and the foreground simple.
